The butcher shop was our inspiration for the look and feel of the Meet Market container. Our experiment plays on the ideas of commodity of items, and purchasing power, as well as the end result of MEETing the person behind the story. The butcher shop was the perfect platform to highlight these ideas, allowing “customers” to come in and shop for the story of their choice. Customers can order from the menu board that has a brief description of the story, they are to receive. Upon ordering the story, we will act as a butcher/docent and showing the customer the story they ordered. Customers then pay for their “meat” by recording their own “meat”- a story about an object. The Stories are complied and at the end of each week the owner previous item decides what is story will be exchanged for the item.
